Our Charter 1977

About the Kiwanis Club of Colebrook
The Kiwanis Club of Colebrook is a service organization with nearly 70 members—men and women who live incommunities throughout the Northern New Hampshire/Northern Vermont region that surrounds Colebrook. Our club was chartered by Kiwanis International in 1977. We are a local club that is part of a world-wide organization of volunteers who are dedicated to “changing the world one child at a time, one community at a time.” Our meetings are held in the Black Bear Tavern at River Edge Inn at 7:15 AM each Tuesday; with an additional meeting at 6:00 pm on the 3rd Thursdayof each month. Guests and prospective members are always welcome to attend any of our meetings. Each year we volunteer countless hours in carrying out many service projects and in doing the fund-raising needed to make possible this service.

The focus of the majority of our service projects are child/youth oriented. We sponsor Key Clubs at High Schools in Pittsburg and Colebrook, NH, as well as in Canaan, VT; thereby giving our youth the opportunity to learn leadership skills and to develop into people who care about serving their communities. Financial support from our club makes it possible for area youth to attend a “Key Leader Conference” each year. Also, we sponsor Builder’s Clubs and K-Kids Clubs for the younger youth in our area schools. Additional projects that we provide for the young people of our region include: Santa Comes to Town, Kiwanis Toys for Kids, Winter Carnival events, an Ice Skating Rink, a Bicycle Rodeo, and Fourth ofJuly Fishing Derby. Among the other projects that we undertake each year are the organizing of the Colebrook Fourth ofJuly Parade and fireworks, tending the grounds of Beaver Brook Falls Park. and the maintaining of a Hospital Bed and Equipment Loan Program. Also, we maintain dedicated scholarship funds and, therefore are able the annually to awards scholarship assistance to persons pursuing further education after graduation from high school.

To support these programs, numerous fund-raising projects are undertaken each year. The annual production of this booklet “MOOSELY INFORMATION” is one of those projects. We regularly hear reports from locals and from visitors that it is an exceedingly useful tool. We want you to know, as well, that the funds paid to us by the businesses whose Ads appear in these pages do much more than support the production of this booklet. Profit from the annual production of MOOSELY INFORMATION is a major source of the income we need to carry out our service work. So, we thank our Advertisers and hope that you who use this booklet will thank them as well.

Among the other fund-raising are such events as “Chicken BBQ”, “Putt-around Colebrook”, “Ice Out Contest”, “Super Bowl Grid” and various Raffles. We are thankful for the participation of so many, residents and visitors alike, who support our efforts by their participation in these fun-filled fund-raisers.

Plans are underway for the major renewal of Kiwanis Park on Colebrook’s Main Street. Hopefully, by the time you are able to read this article, that renewal will be underway with removal of overgrown vegetation the installation of new flagpoles and more!

Thirteen years ago, we formed the Colebrook Kiwanis Foundation, an IRS 501-C3 organization, as part of our Club’soperations. This Foundation makes it possible for individuals or organizations to support our programs and receive tax benefit for so doing. Please be in touch with us if you are interested in making such a tax-deductible gift.

We also maintain a Web-site [www.Colebrook-Kiwanis.org] which is updated regularly with information aboutour club’s activities. In addition, we are regularly posting on Facebook.
